I’ve just read a very inspiring post on citizen science and co-creation of knowledge through the involvement of citizens in research. “Click to cure” (see my post about it) is one example, but similar initiatives are starting everywhere.
Read Caren Cooper’s post on Scientific American Blogs, it is really inspiring!
And have a look at those examples of citizen science projects:
- Scistarter – science we can do together
- Citoyens capteurs (a French initiative aiming at crowdsourcing environmental data)
Most of the projects existing today consist in crowdsourcing the collection of a massive amount of data through collaborations between research institutions and citizens. Will this phenomenon expand and evolve towards real collective problem-solving?
