Click to Cure, citizens can help accelerate cancer research

Cancer Research UK, a British charity financing cancer research, has launched an original initiative aiming at involving citizens in cancer research.

The Click to Cure initiative emerged from the researchers’ need to accelerate the analysis of a growing amount of data. The principle is simple: you are guided through a short tutorial where you learn to recognize different types of cells on research pictures, and then you’re asked to look at different pictures and to identify the types of cells they contain.

It is not difficult and it doesn’t take so much time. A great idea to help accelerate the analysis of millions of pictures that would have taken several years for scientists to look at! More than 260 000 pictures have already been analysed through the Click to Cure web site.
